Published Benalmadena Dining Guide: Puerto Marina and the Sunset Strip
Benalmadena's dining concentrates around Puerto Marina, a Moorish-influenced marina complex that won the title of Best Marina in the World in 2010 from The Yacht Harbour Association. The marina loop holds roughly thirty restaurants, split between seafood-forward spots on the inner harbour and more international options on the outer ring. Seafood here runs slightly more expensive than La Carihuela in neighbouring Torremolinos — expect 50 to 75 euros for two with drinks — but the setting is more sheltered and the harbour views more dramatic at sunset. Beyond the marina, Benalmadena Pueblo, the old hilltop village 3 kilometres inland and 280 metres above sea level, holds a smaller cluster of traditional restaurants with terrace views over the coast. The cable car (Teleferico) connects the coast to the top of Mount Calamorro, but the restaurant at the summit is basic. For families staying at the coast, Puerto Marina handles most evenings; for a change of scene, the drive or taxi to the pueblo takes ten minutes and puts you in a quieter village setting with better meat and casserole dishes. Booking is recommended at Puerto Marina Friday through Sunday in summer, and during Semana Santa.
